FAQs

HOW ARE THE SPECIMENS SOURCED?

Our specimens are ethically collected from all over the world, mostly from butterfly farms or breeders once the insect has passed away. No butterflies are illegally collected. We are dedicated to conservation and ethical business practices.

HOW LONG WILL MY FRAME LAST?

As long as the frames are looked after, they will last forever. There are collections that are over 300 years old! This is why they make a great gift.

HOW DO I LOOK AFTER MY FRAME?

Insect frames are low maintenance. They just need to be kept out of direct sunlight (light areas are fine), and out of very humid areas. As the specimens are real, they may attract book lice or mites because they are organic matter. Keep an eye on your frame for any little bugs, and if you suspect there may be some, put the whole frame in a freezer for 72 hours. This will kill the bugs but will not damage your specimen at all. Be gentle with the frames as the specimens are fragile, and you’ll be able to admire them indefinitely.

WHO MAKES THEM?

Bee’s Bugs is a small business, and I (Bronte) do all the pinning and preserving myself. I am passionate about insects and animals and I’m very grateful to be able to share my passion with you guys!

WHERE DO YOU SHIP?

We ship to all of Australia. We do not do international shipping.
